During the 30 minute session you will:
- Explore the features of the SMARTBoard
- Look at some of the SMARTBoard Lessons that are available
- Explore the Lesson Activity Toolkit if you want to create your own lesson
What you will need to bring to class:
- You will be using the teacher station in R-2. You do not need to bring anything to class.
Before class:
- Spend some time looking at the resources at Interactive Whiteboards in the Classroom. Be sure to look at Interactive Websites and the Jeopardy and other games at the bottom of the page
- If you have have downloaded SMARTBoard software to your computer take a look at the Lessons that are available (you can also do this during the 30 minute session)
During class:
- Open the SMARTBoard software
- Using the guides provided explore the features of the SMARTBoard - Click on the Gallery icon (left side of screen, 2nd icon from top -- it is little picture of a mountain and the sun).
- Click on "Online Essentials for Educators" and in the Online Resources section click on "Lesson Activities". You can "View all", "Browsing curriculum standards", or "Subject and grade level"
- Find an activity or two that you are interested in viewing and run through the lesson
- If you are interested in creating a SB lesson spend some time looking at the Lesson Activity Toolkit. It is also available from the Gallery menu and is called "Lesson Activity Toolkit 1.0". See handouts for details for using this toolkit.
- If you have time check out some of the interactive web sites on the web pages listed above (see class blog for addresses)
After class:
- Think about how you could use the SB (or an interactive board) in your classroom. How would it change how you teach? What would be the benefit for your students?
